capturedUPDATE: OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (8/9/17) — Kentucky State Police Posts 16 and 2 along with the U.S. Marshals Service have located an inmate that escaped from jail and has been on the run since the end of July.

Arnold Ray McKenney, 48, was located at his mother's Anton residence in Hopkins County and is being transported back to the Ohio County Detention Center in Hartford. He will be charged with second-degree escape.

KSP Trooper Corey King said he was uncertain at the length of time McKenney was in Anton and whether his mother faces charges.

"Often times, criminals including escapees will flee to 'safe areas' or areas they have immediate contacts and assistance," said King. "So, it was no surprise that U.S. Marshals would focus their attention on local family members and acquaintances."

KSP charged Harley W. Roebke of Hartford after they say footage showed him providing lookout while Arnold Ray McKenney, 48 of Cromwell tampered with a door prior to his escape.

Both men were assigned to work in the kitchen.

OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (7/31/17) — An inmate has escaped from the Ohio County Detention Center that Kentucky State Police considers dangerous.

Arnold McKenney, 48, is described as being 5’4” tall weighing 150 pounds. He has blond/brown hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and gray jogging pants.

In April, McKenny was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, persistent felony offender, unlawful transaction with a minor and sodomy involving a child under age 12. Read originial story HERE.

Trooper Corey King said McKenney was authorized to be in the kitchen and assigned to wash dishes around 8 p.m. Sunday. McKenney was able to escape through a locked door. Investigators believe the magnetic locking mechanism was faulty by allowing the door to open if enough pressure was applied.

His whereabouts are currently unknown, but law enforcement and jail staff would consider him dangerous, King reported.

Anyone aware of his location and/or information relevant to this case is asked to contact Post 16 at (270) 826-3312 or a local law enforcement agency.
