BOWLING GREEN, KY (2/7/12) – The Barren River Community Health Planning (BRCHP) Council will hold its next planning session at the Barren River Area Development District Office in Bowling Green, Kentucky on February 14, 2012. The council consists of over 50 community leaders, business leaders, and health care professionals representing all ten counties of the Barren River District.
The BRCHP Council is working to prioritize health issues that affect the residents of our communities. Community members from each of the counties have been working with the council by participating in community surveys and interviews. “By working with the citizens of the individual counties we are able to focus on the issues that directly affect specific communities. It is also a great way for people to share ideas about success that have happened in neighboring communities” said Dennis Chaney, director of the Barren River District Health Department.
This planning process is scheduled to take more than a year to complete. By bringing together these various partners, the BRCHP Council hopes to have a plan to improve the health of South Central Kentucky. By working together we hope to ensure our communities are safe places to live, work and play.
