BOWLING GREEN, KY - Mildred E. Collier, 91, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away at the Hospice Center on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 8:25 p.m.
She was a native of Campbellsville, TN, born on July 3, 1920 to the late James Campbell English and Mary Etta Hays English. Mildred married Leroy Collier on August 1, 1944 in Laurel, MS. She graduated from University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in Home Economics. After graduation she was a Home Extension Agent in Williamson County, Tennessee. She was baptized on January 27, 1952 by B.G. Hope at Twelfth Street Church of Christ where she was a member for over 60 years until her death. Mildred was active in her church Twelfth Street/Lost River Church of Christ, Warren County 4-H Club Leader, a charter member of the Warren County Home Economists, and the Southern KY Genealogical Society and the BUGAMUG (computer users group). She loved to entertain friends and family.
Survivors include two sons, James Michael Collier, wife Pam, Wheelersburg, OH, Kenneth Allan Collier, Walnut Creek, CA. One daughter Donna Parker, husband Don, Bowling Green, KY. Grandchildren; Jennifer Buckingham, Rebekah Williams, Rachel Beck and Hannah Parker all of Bowling Green, Nathan Collier, Saudi Arabia, Sarah Watson, Tampa, FL, Aaron Collier, San Diego, CA and James Collier, Union City, CA. 12 great grandchildren, 21 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Two special friends Ann Harrell, Dade City, FL and Carolyn McCrea, Sonora, CA. Preceded in death by husband of 64 years Leroy Collier, and daughter Janice Marie Russell. Brothers; Allan Hays English, James Campbell English, Jr., Hugh Douglas English and William Alexander English. Sister Mary Elizabeth Lowery. Niece; Betty Jean Chong and nephew; Ashley Cohn and two great nephews.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 19 and on Monday, February 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 20 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery #2.
