BOWLING GREEN, KY - Joe P. Perkins, 79 of Bowling Green, passed away February 18, 2012 in Bowling Green.
He was born April 19, 1932 in Bowling Green, KY. He was the son of the late Lawrence Milton and Evelyn Hobdy Perkins and was the husband of the late Nancy Carroll Miller Perkins. Joe P. was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church. He was a United States Army combat veteran who served in the Korean War. He began his work-life as an electrician, having spent most of his professional career as a manufacturer’s representative in heavy electrical sales. Joe P. was a proud graduate of College High School. He was a former member of the Jaycees, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his daughters, Mitzi Perkins Riley of Nashville, TN, and Jill Perkins Smith and husband Ben of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Matthew Barclay Riley and wife Martha, Elizabeth Riley Bell and husband Kevin, McCall Smith Allen and husband Joe, Corbin Smith and McKenzie Smith; sisters Carroll Travelsted, Lou Goidel and husband Don, Mary McMillin, and Anne McBee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Hobdy Lawrence Perkins.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, February 20 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, February 21 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to The College Heights Foundation, 1906 College Heights Blvd., Bowling Green, KY 42101-9977.
