BOWLING GREEN, KY - William Gordon Adams 85, of Bowling Green, KY. passed away Monday, February 20 at Hospice Center of Southern Kentucky at 10:45 p.m.
The Daysville, KY. native was born August 25,1925 and was the son of the late Clayton and Sallie May Gordon Adams. Also preceded him death was a sister Frances May.
Bill was retired from the Kentucky Department of Highways and was in charge of the bridges for the Barren River District. He was a Member and Deacon at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ. He was a graduate of Olmstead High School, where he played high school baseball and basketball. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with an engineering degree. He also loved Bowling Green High School Sports and was a member of the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation at Western Kentucky University. He was a Cincinnati Reds Baseball fan and loved farming.
Bill is survived by two sons Jeffrey Adams of Atlanta, GA., Michael Adams of Denver, CO, one daughter Sally Adams Schmidt and husband George of Lexington, KY., one sister Mae Thompson of Russellville, KY. Two Grandchildren Stephanie Stinnett of Stanford, KY., Wendy Ward of Bowling Green, KY., Three great grandchildren Robert Stinnett of Bowling Green, KY., Hannah Ward of Bowling Green, KY., and Johnny Christopher Ward of Bowling Green, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel and Friday, February 24 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Funeral Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ 1106 State St. Bowling Green, KY 42101, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
