MC BH 7 13 2017CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (7/13/17) — The breakfast meeting of the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce was deemed a success by Dorothy Walker, executive director of GMCC.

“We had about 85 this morning, which is a little down from our usual luncheon meeting” she said about the breakfast venue suggested in a member survey. “We will do it again.”

Walker was particularly pleased that several women were in attendance.

“July is a good month to have a breakfast meeting.” She said.

Logan Porter, Old National Bank first vice president, presided over the meeting and the meal breakfast was sponsored by Baptist Health, which also presented the program.

Dave Hampl, Powderly Healthplex and Central City Clinic director of operations gave an overview of the challenges to healthcare in Kentucky particularly in Muhlenberg County.

He then explained the enormous investment that Baptist Health has made in Muhlenberg County in resources, equipment and people. Addressing women’s health needs has been a priority.

Hampl said that healthcare delivery and focus has changed with less reliance on hospitalization and greater outpatient and home care emphasis.

Hampl said that Baptist Health renewed its commitment to Muhlenberg County with a 10-year lease extension on the 56,000-square-foot Powderly Healthplex and new staff.

Baptist Health is a non-profit, faith based institution providing Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care Service and Lab Services to Muhlenberg County.
