towCLEARWATER, Fla. (8/3/17) — Madisonville-North Hopkins High School graduate Kaylee Tow, a University of Alabama signee, earned a gold medal with the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team over the weekend. USA defeated Japan 13-4 to capture its second-straight World Baseball Softball Confederation Junior Women's World Championship in Clearwater, Fla..

The USA JWNT outscored its opponents 99-9 over nine games last week, including five shutouts at the start of the tournament.

The USA team will conclude its summer schedule on Aug. 10 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Major League Baseball RBI World Series.

Tow plays outfield for the USA team. She is headed into her freshman season at the University of Alabama.

"Kaylee (Tow) might be the surprise prospect in the 2017 class," Alabama Coach Patrick Murphy said following Tow's signing in 2016. "She's our first ever signee from the state of Kentucky and is very athletic and has tons of power. Not only is she a great athlete but she is also a very good student. She's going to be a great leader for us over the next four years."

Tow hails from Madisonville. She excelled throughout her high school career, leading Madisonville-North Hopkins to the 2017 Kentucky state title.
