LEXINGTON, Ky. (7/3/14) — You can experience Kentucky’s tradition of craftsmanship and tour the grounds of Waveland State Historic Site in Lexington during 'Old Home Weekend,' July 11-13.
Besides touring the grounds, visitors will be able to watch visiting artists from Old Fort Harrod State Park display their period craftsmanship. Demonstrations will be in conjunction with tours Friday and Saturday, July 11-12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Some of the demonstrations will include doll making and herb gardening as well as spinning, weaving and candle making.
Waveland State Historic Site is an antebellum house on the edge of Lexington. Tours are offered Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1-5 p.m. with the last tour starting at 4 p.m. The site is closed Monday and Tuesday. Admission for the tours is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for students; children 6 and under are free.
