CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (7/3/14) — The Jennie Stuart Medical Center Ancillary Services Team completed the 2013-14 fundraising year in second place with a total of $8,700.43 donated.
That is almost double from the previous year’s donation.
All of the money was raised through various fundraising efforts by the twelve member team, made up of JSMC staff.
Stacy Travis, Co-Director at the Ambulatory Surgery Campus and Team Captain attributes the success to the team member’s efforts in making contacts with local businesses and independent consultants that are willing to donate a portion of their proceeds to such a worthy cause. Mrs. Travis said, “Our team begins work on next year’s campaign, immediately after the current one ends. They all believe in the cause and as health care workers we see firsthand the affect that cancer has on individuals and families, and we want to do our part to support the research and cure for cancer.”
Each booth at the Friday night event is decorated according to the evening’s theme. This year did not disappoint with “Stayin Alive”. The JSMC Ancillary Team had a great time decorating their booth with 1970’s memorabilia including, life size disco cutouts, a mirrored disco ball, wigs, glasses and a black and white checkered dance floor. The big hit at their booth for the second year in a row was the bra pong board that provided an opportunity for the team to raise additional money the night of the event, by having the participants pay to play.
The JSMC Ancillary Services Relay for Life Team would like to thank all of the organizations that helped to make the 2013-14 year a success:
