WASHINGTON, D.C. (5/17/13) – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, has released the following statement regarding his vote to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. The legislation is more commonly referred to as Obamacare.
“The President’s takeover of our healthcare system is going to hit the pocketbooks of Kentuckians and all Americans at a time when we can least afford it. A $1.8 trillion government takeover of healthcare that puts the federal government in between doctors and their patients is not the type of healthcare reform that we need. Instead, we need common sense reforms that give Kentuckians the healthcare they want, from a doctor that they choose, and at a price that they can afford.”
