LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/3/13) – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will open the 2013 Southeastern Conference Tournament on Wednesday night against the Ole Miss Rebels at 7:30 p.m. CT at the Orange Beach SportsPlex in Orange Beach, Ala.

The Wildcats finished the SEC regular season 7-4-0, and earned the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament. Ole Miss will enter Wednesday’s quarterfinal match with a 7-3-1 SEC record and the No. 4 overall seed in the tournament.

The Florida Gators and Texas A&M Aggies split the 2013 SEC regular season championship, as both teams accumulated 27 points in 2013, going 9-2-0 in conference play. The Gators will be the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament due to a head-to-head win on Oct. 28, 2-0 in Gainesville.

UK and Ole Miss did not meet in the regular season. There were 10 common opponents that both UK and OM played, with Ole Miss going 7-2-1 against those 10 teams, and Kentucky winning seven out of the 10 as well.

Ole Miss and UK are also 9-9-1 in the all-time series between the sides, and have met five times in the SEC Tournament (1998, 2002, 03, 05, 06). In the SEC Tournament matches, Kentucky is 4-1-0, with its only blemish to the Rebels in postseason play coming in 2003.

The SEC Tournament kicks off on Monday at 5:00 p.m. ET with No. 7 LSU taking on No. 10 Auburn. AU was 0-5-3 to start the SEC season, and rallied to win its final four matches and a three-way tiebreaker with Tennessee and Alabama to book their spot in Orange Beach. The second first-round match will be at 7:30 p.m. ET with No. 8 Missouri taking on No. 9 Arkansas. MU and Arkansas played on Thursday night, with Arkansas winning 2-1 in OT.

All of the matches will be shown live on the SEC Digital Network, with the semifinals shown live on ESPN3, and the championship match live on ESPNU at 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
