UK Hoops’ Drake Out for Season

hoops2 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/19/13) – University of Kentucky senior Samantha Drake (Bardstown, Ky.) will miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in her left knee during the Wildcats’ game vs. Central Michigan on Sunday.

Drake, a 6-foot-3 forward, injured her knee in the first half vs. the Chippewas after just two minutes of play. She has seen action in all four games for the undefeated Wildcats (4-0), averaging 5.0 minutes per game. She has played in 88 career games with 23 starting assignments and holds career averages of 3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

According to the UK medical staff, surgery should be expected in the next few weeks. The normal timetable for recovery is estimated at seven to eight months.
