Highway Safety Race Car in Nationwide Series Race Friday

sobriety 500

FRANKFORT, Ky. (6/27/13) – A glossy-black Chevrolet Impala will roar through the Kentucky night this weekend with a sobering message.

“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” will be emblazoned across driver Mike Wallace’s No. 01 car as he competes in the “Feed the Children 300” Friday night at Kentucky Speedway in Gallatin County.

“I’m happy to represent a program that creates public awareness and helps save lives,” Wallace said. “I’m looking forward to racing the ‘Drive Sober’ Impala because we’ve never promoted anything like this before. It’s great to be sharing this important message with the fans at Kentucky because it’s such a good area for racing.”

The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) is glad to partner with Wallace and his JD Motorsports Team.

“We’re grateful for the assistance that Mike Wallace and JD Motorsports are providing as we promote the ‘Drive Sober’ message,” said KOHS Executive Director Bill Bell. “Alcohol-related fatalities are up in 2013. In fact, 20 percent of the fatal crashes in Kentucky this year have involved alcohol. As summer revs up, we hope Kentuckians remember to avoid driving while impaired.”

The “Feed the Children 300” is scheduled to start Friday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
