deer classic 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (7/29/13) – If you're hunting for the perfect place to perfect your skills as a sportsman, the 25th Annual Kentucky Deer Classic is a great place to start.

For a quarter of a century, avid sportsmen from around the country have made this one of the nation's "must see" events. This year's event will be Saturday, August 24th from 8am to 4pm at the Muhlenberg County Ag & Convention Center, on the Highway 189 Bypass in Powderly, sponsored by the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce.

Get tips from true hunting legends, including Harold Knight. Knight is one half of the Knight & Hale team that redefined the hunting industry with innovative products such as the original Fightn’ Purr turkey call and the patented inhale-exhale operation of the EZ Grunter Plus grunt call, which allows hunters to create the hyperventilating tending grunt. Harold has won many national calling contests during his time on the circuit, including the World Goose Calling Championship. Even though he's retired from competing on the circuit, this master of turkey calling is still a judge and a lifetime member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Harold remains active as both hunter and host of Sheffield Financials Ultimate Hunting television show. For 27 years the show has been one of the most popular hunting shows on TV since its inception as Woods and Wetlands. Harold is also a life member of the NRA and is a strong supporter of the second amendment.

Also on hand will be Don Bell, founder of Code Blue™ Deer Scents and the hunting industries foremost scent specialist, introduces his newest deer scents; Top Secret and Red Light District. Top Secret is collected without oxygen from the time the deer urinates, through collection, bottling and is oxygen free sitting on the shelf of your favorite retailer. This patent pending collection process is a complete generation above Code Blue.

Muhlenberg County resident, Thad Cartwright, of Browder, will also be there. Cartwright, an avid bow hunter, has received official classification of take of World Record Buck status. Cartwright's very large, and very unusual, velvet buck was measured by Steve Lucas of BTR Buckmasters in the Archery Category, and is the new world record buck. This deer had a gross measurement score of 273 2/8 inch. On top of that, Cartwright has also won the Golden Laurel Citation Award in the Buckmasters records books. This award is given for the best buck and best story of the actual hunt. Only one buck per year is chosen for this award across the United States. Mr. Cartwright's world-record buck will be on display.

There'll also be over one hundred exhibitor booths featuring hunting equipment, dozens of door prizes and free samples.

One crowd pleaser is always the Kentucky "Wall of Fame" Exhibit and Contest, hosted by famed outdoor columnist Randy Adams, AKA Big Country.

Antler Dogs Roger Sigler Seminar and Exhibit will be there as well.

There will also be games for the kids, including Bandit Cross Bow, Paintball, and a B-B Gun Shootout, and you can test your skills with the 3-D Archery Shoot Open Invitation.

Contact Tommy Moore at 270 836 2495 for details on this specific event.
