Outdoors with Big Country – National Hunting & Fishing day

sunset1 300KENTUCKY (9/25/13) – As the days go by and Summer slips away, we can finally say hello to Autumn.

There are a lot of folks that love this time of year, mostly due to the fact of the great and comfortable weather experienced during the Fall season. Cool morning air from the north and clear beautiful skies make for some excellent weather to experience all that nature has to offer.

This Saturday is ‘National Hunting and Fishing Day,’ and for some reason the authorities picked this day as the best day of the year to venture out and do one or the other…or both.

An avid outdoorsman can either hunt deer, squirrel or turkey this weekend. Fisherman have no limits on what to go after. For anglers, this is prime time to fish. The water is cooling down and fish are going into a feeding frenzy to prepare for the winter season. Bass and Crappie are starting to bite good, according to local anglers’ reports.

Personally, I prefer to bow hunt in the afternoons this time of the year, depending upon the moon phase, and I like to do some fishing in the early morning hours.

Any way that you look at it, Kentuckians live in an outdoorsman’s paradise! Venture out on any given day to hunt or fish and celebrate our freedom to enjoy the great outdoors!

Until next time, be save and shoot straight!
