GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (6/19/13) – On Tuesday, June 18, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Troopers responded to the scene of a reported accident involving a moped and a car.
Once on the scene of the accident, Troopers found that 59-year-old Jeffery Blake, of Mayfield, had been operating a moped traveling southbound on US 45 at a slow rate of speed. At the same time, 25-year-old Dustin Hawkins, also of Mayfield, was also traveling south behind Blake. Hawkins failed to notice the moped and struck it in the rear, causing Blake and his passenger, 42-year-old Barbara Wilson of Paducah, to be thrown from the moped.
Blake was transported to Baptist Health in Paducah, where he was admitted with non-life threatening injuries. Wilson was later transferred to Vanderbilt in Nashville for her injuries.
Blake was charged with Failure to Maintain Insurance, Driving while Under the Influence, Driving without a license and No Helmet.
Trooper Trevor Pervine was assisted on the scene by the Graves County Sheriff’s Department, West Viola Volunteer Fire Department and Mayfield Fire and EMS.
