MARSHALL COUNTY (6/26/13) – On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at approximately 3:41 PM, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Troopers responded to a report of an accident involving two semi-trucks on I24.
Once on the scene, Troopers found that 25-year-old Brandon Clark, of Benton, and 69-year-old Roy McGregor, of Alice KY, were both traveling east on interstate 24. Mr. Clark was operating his semi in the left lane, attempting to pass Mr. McGregor. The semi tractors became side by side. It was at this time the front right steer tire on Mr. Clark’s semi blew out. The loss of the tire caused the semi to drift over into McGregor’s semi. As the vehicle collided, they left the roadway off the east shoulder. The vehicles traveled down an embankment, through a tree line, and came to final rest approximately 150 feet off the roadway at the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway access road.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The collision investigation continues by Officer Mark Townsend of the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch.
Officer Mark Townsend was assisted on scene by the Marshall County Sherriff’s Department, Palma Briensburg Fire Department, Marshall County E.M.S., Kentucky Fire Marshalls Office, Environmental Protection Agency, PHI Ari Medical, Marshall County Emergency Management, and the Gilbertsville Fire Dept.
