McCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (8/19/13) – On August 17, 2013, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified on an injury accident involving a motorcycle in the 800 block of Lovelaceville Florence-Station Road East at 1:41 AM.
The investigation revealed that 49-year-old, Gene T. Boswell, of Benton, was traveling eastbound on Lovelaceville Florence-Station Road East prior to the accident and had negotiated a right hand curve. As he exited the curve on his 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster, he traveled across the centerline and the westbound lane of traffic and onto the shoulder of the roadway where he struck a mailbox in front of 805 Lovelaceville Florence-Station Road and overturned. Mr. Boswell slid through a gravel driveway and came to rest on the edge of the roadway.
A passerby noticed Mr. Boswell and called for assistance. When Deputies arrived, Boswell was being cared for by two individuals that who happened upon the accident, one of which was Volunteer Firefighter from Calloway County.
There were no witnesses to the accident and it is unknown how long Mr. Boswell had been laying in the roadway before being noticed. The Firefighter did notice that the engine on Mr. Boswell’s motorcycle was cool to the touch.
Boswell received additional treatment at the scene by Hendron Lone Oak Firefighters and crews from Mercy Regional EMS. He was transported to Lourdes Hospital where he remained in serious condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
