uk golf women 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (8/8/13) – Coming off its third-straight NCAA Regional appearance, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team has released its 2013-14 schedule, it was announced Thursday by head coach Golda Johannson Borst.

“We are really looking forward to this year’s schedule,” said Borst who is entering her fourth season as coach of the Wildcats. “It will be challenging and it will also be helpful as we prepare for our goal of qualifying for the National Championship at the end of the year.”

The Wildcats begin the 2013 fall portion of the schedule Sept. 9-11 at Texas A&M’s “MO”Morial Invitational at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. For the second-straight season, UK will compete in the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn., Sept. 20-22. Last season, the Wildcats placed eighth in the Mason Rudolph Championship, which is hosted by Vanderbilt University.

Kentucky then travels to Norman, Okla., for the Schooner Fall Classic on Oct. 4-6, before wrapping up the fall slate on the West Coast in the Stanford Invitational from Oct. 25-27.

The spring season will begin with the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 9-11. UK is very familiar with the UCF Challenge, having played in the tournament two of the last three years, including a fourth-place finish in 2011. After nearly a month off, the Wildcats head to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate from March 7-9. The three-day tournament will be held at the Long Cove Club.

The Cats then return to Baton Rouge, La., for a fourth consecutive year at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic March 21-23. Former Wildcat Ashleigh Albrecht led UK with a top 10 finish in a tie for seventh place last season. To conclude the spring season, Kentucky will compete in the Rebel Intercollegiate in Oxford, Miss., April 4-6.

Postseason play begins April 18 and runs through April 20 for the SEC Championship at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. Kentucky will look to build off a fifth-place finish in last season’s SEC Championship. NCAA Regional action runs May 8-10 at three different sites. The East Regional will be hosted by Florida State, Oklahoma State hosts the Central Regional and the University of Washington hosts the West Regional. The NCAA Championships will take place in Tulsa, Okla., May 19-24.

Kentucky’s squad features one senior, two sophomores and three freshmen under Borst, as the Wildcats will look to build off three top-five finishes from a year ago and a 12th place finish in the NCAA Regionals.
