Outdoors with Big Country – Youth Deer Season

randy2 300KENTUCKY (10/11/13) – Young hunters across the state are looking forward to an exciting deer hunt on this upcoming weekend all across Kentucky. It’s Kentucky Youth Firearm Hunting season weekend in all counties. The requirements are tags, license and also a hunters orange card, alongside an adult accompanying them. This weekend is their ticket to go into the deer woods with high expectations and very high emotions, each dreaming of taking that big buck!

With some scouting and simple steps of being scent-free, and stand placement, it’s just some streak of good luck that might get a youth a chance to shoot that big buck of a lifetime!

Remember to be safe with your firearms! Wear your hunter’s orange hat and vest/jacket. Take a backpack of goodies with snacks and drinks and make it a day to remember!

If you have an opportunity to take a shot, remember to aim for the sweet spot of the heart or lung area, take a breath out and relax, and then squeeze that trigger!
randy1 300Watch every step that the deer takes as it takes off on the trail. Mark his last spot, such as a brush or a tree, if the deer takes out on a run after you shoot. Always remember as you track your deer, approach it from the rear section carefully and ease up on it when you locate it. Either poke it in the rump with a stick or your gun and make sure that the deer has expired. This might eliminate a bad situation if the deer is only wounded. Wild animals are truly wild, and can be a danger.

Be careful and the best of luck to each and all hunters!

Good luck and good hunting!
