LEXINGTON, Ky. (12/4/13) — Christmas cheer and holiday music filled the streets of downtown Lexington last night as hundreds of people came to watch festive floats, get into the Christmas spirit and see Santa Claus.
“It’s one of our favorite family traditions,” Roselyn Adkins, mother of four said. “The kids love it and after seeing Santa Claus they know they have to behave…at least until Christmas.”
The parade had everything from animals and dancers to singers and nice cars.
“My favorite thing about the parade is seeing the different kind of cars,” 5-year-old Elijah Thornton said. “The red car was the best!”
“All of the puppies are so cute, and sometimes they come over and let you pet them,” a smiling Elizabeth Giles, 6, said. “A puppy is on my Christmas list for sure.”
Light up swords, popcorn and hot chocolate were sold for watchers waiting for the parade to start.
“It’s not as cold as it was last year, but these kids would come out and enjoy this event rain or shine,” said Brandon Martin, father. “I didn’t even have to remind them, they were ready to go before I even got home from work.”
