DUNMOR, Ky. (8/15/14) — With warm, sunny weather predicted for this weekend, organizers are anticipating a large turnout for the Sixth Annual Lake Malone Car, Truck and Tractor Show, along with the park's monthly flea market.

Both will take place today and Saturday, Aug. 15 and 16 at Lake Malone State Park pavilion area near Dunmor.

The car, truck and tractor show has been a huge success over the past five years, according to Donald Ray Phelps, one of the organizers. Phelps told SurfKY News that this year's show should be no exception.

"We've have had a great response in the past," Phelps said. "We've really been proud of the turn out. People from all over Kentucky, Tennessee and beyond have attended. You'll see everything from hot rods to antique tractors and trucks you just don't find very often. At last year's show a guy from Tennessee showed up with an old International Truck from the early 1950s. It was sitting on a four wheel drive frame. I had to look at it several times to believe it. Everyone who participates gets a dash plaque, but we really don't do it for the prizes. Mostly people just come to enjoy showing their vehicles, and looking at all the other rare vehicles. We also have all kinds of food vendors, and Saturday we'll have live music from Barby Hall of Nashville."

Phelps noted that between the car and tractor show and the flea market, there will be something for everybody.

"The Lake Malone flea market is also growing, as well," Phelps said. "We had an enormous turnout for the flea market in July and we're expecting another great crowd this weekend. It's all about attracting families to Lake Malone. There have been so many improvements made over the past year, and people are responding."

Lake Malone State Park is located in southern Muhlenberg and northern Logan counties.
