MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (1/11/14) ― A Muhlenberg County Detention Center inmate was recaptured after being on the loose only a short while.
According to a Kentucky State Police report, Kristopher D. Newman, 38, failed to return from work release as scheduled Saturday, Jan. 11. Muhlenberg Detention officials informed KSP that Newman was last seen driving a red Dodge truck.
Trooper Bob Winters located the vehicle at about 12:12 p.m. traveling down the Pennyrile Parkway at the Morton's Gap exit. Newman was arrested without further incident and returned to Muhlenberg County Detnetion Center by case officer Trooper Jerry Knight.
Newman was serving a sentence for manufacturing methamphetamines.
Winters was assisted at the scene by Lt. Brenton Ford, Detective Dan Morck and Trooper Luis Palmer.
