Outdoors with Big Country – Family, Friends and the Outdoors

wedontlikestrangersroundhere1 300KENTUCKY (7/24/13) – Just like with most sports, hunting or fishing is just better to experience with family and friends.

Memories and good times in the field or on the water are times that you like to spend with good friends and family members. Special memories are made, even on trips where you might not be catching any fish or harvesting game. It’s the time spent that makes it special.

I’ve spent a lot of time hunting and fishing alone, but the best of memories I have are with family and friends.

If you know someone that doesn’t fish or hunt, introduce them to the outdoors and make that trip successful by showing them the steps of it all, including being safe. My theory is to introduce them to the outdoors and later in life it might keep them off the streets.

Good luck and be safe!

Until next week, I’ll see you in the woods or on the water!

FISH OF THE WEEK

Big Country is currently featuring local anglers throughout the region in his Fish of the Week section. This week’s Fish of the Week title goes out to two separate local anglers. First, we have Cody Napier, the leader of the Muhlenberg County High School Fishing Team. Cody caught this very nice smallmouth bass on Kentucky Lake recently. A huge thanks goes out to Cody for being the high school fishing team coach.

Next up, we have Cheryl Gibson of Greenville, Kentucky. Cheryl is an avid bass angler and hooks many trophy-size bass, such as this one pictured here. Cheryl also serves as a Boy Scout leader in the area. Give Cheryl a big shout out for being an outdoors enthusiast and spreading the tradition with local children.
