FRANKFORT, KY (2/22/12) – The following is a statement issued today, Nov. 22, 2012, by Governor Steve Beshear regarding the Senate Committee approval of gaming amendment.
“For the first time, a Senate committee has approved a bill that would allow our citizens to decide the future of expanded gaming in our state. It’s a significant step and shows that these Senators are listening to the desire of Kentuckians to vote on this issue. I urge the full Senate to approve this bill, and I call on all Kentuckians to contact their Senators to let them know that it is time to let the people to vote.”
Recently SurfKY News ran a poll allowing our readers to choose their viewpoints on allowing citizens to vote on gaming. 88.4 percent stated that they believed that the average citizen should be allowed to vote on expanded gaming (casinos.) On the other side, 10.3 percent voted no. Lastly, 1.3 percent were undecided.
