Band1MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (5/7/12) - The Greenville Tourism Commission proudly presents the first ever Saturday’s on the Square Battle of the Bands! The epic Battle is set for June 30th and Greenville is currently seeking bands of all types, Rock, Country, Gospel, whatever your genre we want you! The winning band will receive a $1,000 cash prize plus the opportunity to kick off the entire Saturday’s on the Square concert series on July 7th.

There is NO fee to enter the contest and bands from across the region are encouraged to submit an application. Interested bands must read and accept the rules and regulations and complete an entry packet. The entry packet must include the completed registration form with each band member’s signature or legal guardians signature, CD, mp3, or video of the band performing at least 3 songs, short band bio, and band photo. All entries are due by close of business on Monday, May 21st. Entries can be mailed to the Greenville Tourism Commission, P.O. Box 421, Greenville, KY 42345, hand delivered to the Greenville Tourism Commission office at 112 North Main Street in Greenville, or electronically submitted by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. All entries will be reviewed by the board of directors and five lucky bands will be selected to compete live on June 30 th.

On June 30th the Battle will begin at 5:00 PM and each band will receive 30 minutes of stage time to perform 2-4 songs. There will be a 30 minute intermission from 7:30 to 8:00 while the scores are tallied. The winning band will then be announced at 8:00PM and invited to play a victory set in celebration. The competition will go on rain or shine! An alternate rain location has been established at the Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall, 501 Robert Draper Way, Greenville, KY 42345.
