GREENVILLE, Ky. (3/26/14) — Open Mic Night comes to the Palace Theatre in downtown Greenville 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, March 28.
The event will be a truly improvised night of music, skits, jokes, and poetry, according to Melanie Smith, coordinator for the Muhlenberg Arts Council.
Smith told SurfKY News that the original idea for a monthly Open Mic Night was to give people in the area an outlet and a chance to share their talent with the community.
"The original purpose was to find the talent that exists in Muhlenberg County," Smith said. "The event will also be a fund raiser for the Muhlenberg Arts Advisory Council and Muhlenberg Community Theatre Incorporated."
Smith said the show has several people who have committed to perform.
But as more and more people find out about the event, the more people will want to be a part of the event.
"Billy Steele and Willard Miller, from the WKYA-FM Morning Show will be the emcees of the event, so we're excited to have them. They will keep things moving, I'm sure," Smith said. "Joe Hudson has mentioned on his Facebook page that he would be here, and he is a really great local thumb picker."To find out more about the Open Mic Night, contact Melanie Smith at (502) 523-5073.
