OSO Presents ‘Concert on the Lawn’ Featuring Motown Classics

motown lawnOWENSBORO, Ky. (8/13/13) -- The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and US Bank will be hosting Concert on the Lawn in front of Kentucky Wesleyan College to kick off their new season, and this year, the concert will feature Motown classics from different eras.
 
The concert, held Aug. 17, will include children’s activities and a concert by the Owensboro Community Band beginning at 5 p.m. “Your Favorite Motown Hit” will be the theme for the table-decorating contest. Families and Friends can purchase the 8-person table for $100 to benefit OSO. The winning table will get to perform with the orchestra that night.
 
The concert starts at 7 p.m., and will feature, Funkystra, led by Owensboro’s own Kris Eans. A Willie Armstrong trumpet tribute, and music attributing Dianna Ross, The Temptations and The Beach Boys, will also be heard.
 
“It’s a great opportunity to see what the orchestra can do,” Karen Porter, Director of OSO said.
 
To reserve a table of eight for $100, call the OSO at: 270-684-0661. SurfKY is also sponsoring a drawing for two season tickets for the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-2014 season. You can sign up on Aug. 17 at the pre-concert festivities.
