KWC logo 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/12/17) — U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of college rankings on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and Kentucky Wesleyan College’s appearance on two lists includes a No. 8 ranking in the South as a Best Regional College, a jump of five places over last year’s ranking of No. 13.

“We are very pleased to be recognized as a top ten institution by such a prestigious publication as U.S. News & World Report,” said Wesleyan President Barton D. Darrell.  “We are also excited to see our rankings continue to rise each year.  This is yet another great tribute to our faculty, staff, alumni and students on the great things happening here at Wesleyan.”

Regional colleges focus almost entirely on a student’s undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs in the liberal arts, as well as fields such as business, nursing and education. These institutions grant few graduate degrees. The 324 prestigious colleges ranked are listed by region: North, South, Midwest and West.

Wesleyan was also ranked as the third best Regional College in the South in the category of “Great Schools, Great Prices,” which measures academic quality compared to cost of attendance – a jump of two places over last year’s No. 5 ranking.  The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools in the top half of the U.S. News Best Colleges ranking are included because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that perform well academically.

In August, Kentucky Wesleyan was recognized by Princeton Review as a “Best in the Southeast” school for the 14th consecutive year.

Kentucky Wesleyan College is a United Methodist-related four-year institution in Owensboro with a strong reputation for a rigorous academic environment and vibrant campus life experience.
