BluegrassHENDERSON, Ky. (8/8/17) — For the 32nd year, the Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival is coming to downtown Henderson Aug. 11-12 for a weekend of lively music, children’s activities, food vendors, folklife displays and special events.

The music stage in Audubon Mill Park on the downtown Henderson riverfront opens at 4 p.m. Friday, with hometown favorite Kings Highway and two other bands playing rotating sets.

It starts up again 7 a.m. Saturday featuring eight bands on the program and continues throughout the day.

Other activities in and around the Audubon Mill Park site include the Fox on the Run 5K to benefit Father Bradley Shelter (6 p.m. Friday); the annual Breakfast in the Park hosted by Downtown Henderson Partnership (7-10 a.m. Saturday, tickets $8 and $5); Folklife Festival (10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday); Antique Tractor Show (10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday); Antique Car Show (10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday) and an Artisan Market (10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday).

Registration for the Fox on the Run 5K starts at 6 p.m. on Friday and the race begins at 7 p.m. at the corner of Second and Water. Race day registration fee is $25. For information, call 270-830-8063.

The Folklife Festival sponsored by the city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department includes traditional games and activities, Kentucky Wheelmen with antique bicycles, rush chair maker Peter Chevalier and Art “The Dude” with a harmonica workshop at noon.

Listed below is the music schedule for the Bluegrass stage:

Friday, Aug. 11: Kings Highways (4-4:50 p.m.); The Price Sisters (5-5:50 p.m.); Kody Norris (6-6:50 p.m.); Kings Highway (7-7:50 p.m.); Kody Norris (8-8:50 p.m.) and The Price Sisters (9-9:50 p.m.)

Saturday, Aug. 12: Keith Vincent at Breakfast in the Park (7-9 a.m.); Bluegrass Fever (9-9:45 a.m.); Shade Tree Players (10-11:30 a.m.); Becky and The Butler County Boys (noon-12:50 p.m.); Firebox Bluegrass Band (1-1:50 p.m.); Phillip Steinmetz & His Sunny Tennesseans (2-2:50 p.m.); Kings Highway (3-3:50 p.m.) Michael Feagan & The Fiddlegrass Band (4-4:50 p.m.; Becky and The Butler County Boys (5-5:50 p.m.); Firebox Bluegrass Band (6-6:50 p.m.); Phillip Steinmetz & His Sunny Tennesseans (7-7:50 p.m.); Kings Highway (8-8:50 p.m.) and Michael Feagan & The Fiddlegrass Band (9-9:50 p.m.)

There are two other special events associated with the festival.

The Flippin’ and Flyin’ Disc Golf Tournament will take place at Atkinson Park Disc Golf Course on Saturday. Registration runs from 8 to 9 a.m. and the tournament starts at 10 a.m.

The Kentucky Wheelmen will host a Community Ride at noon starting at Audubon Mill Park. Bicyclists are invited to ride with the Kentucky Wheelmen on Main Street to Sand Lane and return north on Main to circle Central Park and return to Audubon Mill Park.
