UK Guard Titled SEC’s ‘Freshman of the Week’

 


teague 150LEXINGTON, KY (2/14/12)—Standout UK freshman, Marquis Teague, was named the SEC “Freshman of the Week” as announced by the league office on Monday, February 13th.

Teague, a 6-foot-2, 189-pound freshman guard from Indianapolis, Indiana, was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 12.5 points, 9.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in wins over 8th-ranked Florida and at Vanderbilt. Teague tallied his first-career double-double in the win against Florida scoring 12 points and dishing out a game-high 10 assists. He followed that performance with a 13-point, eight assist, one turnover game on the road at Vanderbilt. Over the last eight games, Teague has dished out 46 assists against just 17 turnovers.

The award is Teague’s first this season and the seventh for the Wildcats this season.

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday, hosting Ole Miss at Rupp Arena. Scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. ET tip, the game can be seen live on SEC Network.
