BOWLING GREEN, KY (2/14/12) – The Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers baseball team held its preseason media day Friday in preparation for the start of the 2012 season.
 
Senior Casey Dykes and Jared Andreoli and junior Tanner Perkins along with head coach Matt Myers were on-hand to answer questions and talk about the team.
 
WKU finished with an overall record of 33-24 and 17-13 in the Sun Belt in 2011 and will return 16 letterwinners from that squad. Highlighting the returners includes Andreoli, Perkins and freshman Justin Hageman who all earned Sun Belt honors following the season.
 
Eleven newcomers appear on the roster in 2012 for the Hilltoppers, including junior-college transfers Steve Hodgins and Tim Bado who expect to claim starting roles for Myers.
 
The Hilltoppers open the season next Friday, Feb. 17, against Toledo at Nick Denes Field at 3 p.m. The weekend series continues with a 2 p.m. matchup Saturday and the series finale at 1 p.m. on Sunday. WKU will play 14 of its first 16 games of the season at home, including series against Southern Illinois, Kent State and Western Illinois.
 
2012 Season Ticket Information: Season tickets for the upcoming 2012 WKU baseball season are now on sale for $35, and season ticket renewals have begun. Fans can call the WKU ticket office at (270) 745-5222 or stop by the ticket office in E.A. Diddle Arena for more information and to purchase season tickets. The Hilltoppers open the 2012 season at home against Toledo on February 17.
