MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/18/17) — Madisonville Noon Kiwanis Club, the oldest civic organization in the city, hosted its Annual Spring Bar-B-Que today at Hopkins County Historic Courthouse.

Public Relations Coordinator Tim Thomas said the event has been ongoing for nearly 30 years and was started by the late Eddie Ballard.

Chairman Spencer Holley said they prepared for 500 plates and had about 30 Kiwanians helping prepare, serve and deliver.

At 11:15 a.m., they had about 110 pre-orders being delivered to many area businesses.

“We host a BBQ in the spring and one in the fall and that is the main fundraisers for the year,” said Holley.

All proceeds will go to scholarships and tutoring programs, Take a Kid Fishing event, coat drives, children’s programs and the Eliminate Program, an international immunization program that helps save the lives of children all over the world and many other worthy causes.

Holley said it was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect for the event and he thanked the community for their continued support.

“I hope we sell out,” said Holley.
