Corey SmithMADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/1/17) — The city of Madisonville will host its fourth installment of Friday Night Live 5-10 p.m. tonight at Madisonville City Park.

Singer-songwriter Corey Smith will take the stage at 8:30 p.m., with special guests Matt Bell and The Josh Merritt Band opening at 5.

“We’re very excited for this weekend’s Friday Night Live,” said Mayor David Jackson. “We’re seeing lots of buzz on social media, particularly from those in the 25 to 35-year-old range for this event, and that’s an age range we’ve typically not reached with Friday Night Live events in years past.”

This weekend’s “Kidz Zone” will feature a giant, inflatable Superman obstacle course and slide, a surprise booth from the Kentucky National Guard, the crowd-favorite rock wall, cornhole, and visits from Wonder Woman, Moana, and The Green Arrow.

Visitors will notice the same tasty and trendy vendors that have been present at the other Friday Night Lives this year, but will also feature some new food vendors including “Local” and “Dibby’s Ice Cream” as well as new merchandise vendors “The Gift Horse” and “Lucky Dogs.”

With the solar eclipse right around the corner, the Friday Night Live merchandise tent will be stocked full of solar eclipse glasses and discounted official Solar MADness T-shirts available for purchase and the city of Madisonville will be giving a few shirts away throughout the evening.

“We hope that offering glasses and official T-shirts at the merchandise tent will help raise awareness about the upcoming Solar MADness Festival that begins Aug. 18, and will also give an opportunity for our residents to get their glasses and ‘official’ Solar MADness T-shirts ahead of time,” said Community Development Director Summer Crick.

Crick said glasses and T-shirts can also be purchased at City Hall, 67 N. Main St. Office hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
