Bust 8 11UPDATE: MADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/11/17) — Four were arrested today after a multi-agency investigation involving three businesses.

Police said one home was also searched.

Madisonville Police Department reported in a preliminary news release tonight that MPD, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, the Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics unit, Office of Alcohol Beverage Control, USDA, DEA and FBI served 14 search warrants.

Convenience stores searched included Quality Quick No. 2 at 1020 S. Main St., Quality Quick No. 7 at 600 W. Noel Ave., Stop and Go at 422 E. Center St. and a home at 360 Audubon Loop. Police also served search warrants at several area financial institutions.

Undercover detectives made purchases with an Electronic Benefit Transfer card assigned to police from the Kentucky Office of the Inspector General after MPD received numerous tips about a year ago related to illegal EBT transactions at the three stores, according to the report.

Police also revealed illegal drugs, financial records and a substantial amount of cash were confiscated during the searches.

EBT cards allows state welfare agencies to issue benefits with the payment cards to individuals through the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Those arrested today in relation to the investigation are listed below:

Amin Narsinh, 42 of Madisonville was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of an ID card or electronic code for benefits.

Shahanaz Narsinh, 39 of Madisonville was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of an ID card or electronic code for benefits.

Chief 8 11 3MADISONVILLE, Ky (8/11/17) — Local, state and federal agencies are raiding three convenience stores in Madisonville this morning.

“This is a multi-site search warrant based on a two-year investigation involving fraudulent electronic transfers — food stamp cards and so forth,” said Madisonville Police Chief Wade Williams.

Police said one of the investigations is drug-related and another is alcohol violation related.

The FBI, USDA, Alcohol Beverage Control officers, Kentucky State Police and Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies could be seen about 10:30 a.m. at the Marathon station along West Noel Avenue, Stop and Go at East Center Street and Shell station along South Main Street.

The chief says investigations at the three convenience stores are related.

People out looking to get gas at some of the stores had to go elsewhere since the areas were cordoned off due to authorities serving search warrants.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
