storm2 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (9/13/17) — A community hurricane relief effort organized after a category 3 hurricane hit Texas late last month, “Helping Houston/Florida-Western Kentucky,” is now collecting items for those affected by Hurricane Irma in the Sunshine State.

Community volunteer Jessica Dockrey announced in order to save gas and resources, all Hopkins County water/supply donations for Texas and Florida should be taken to IAC Group at 850 Industrial Road in Madisonville. Items were previously collected at area businesses.

Area collection points will be directing those donating to the above address. 

IAC's first semi is full and arriving in Texas today, Dockrey said. A second semi is now being loaded up for those in need in Florida.

Organizers said they have linked with a contact near the Tampa area and will be coordinating a drop destination soon.

Neighboring counties also are encouraged to drop off donations at IAC as well.
