Ron 10 15 5HANSON, Ky. (10/14/17) — The Hanson Lions Club events in Hanson were a huge success over the weekend, according to club members.

Long lines could be seen at most barbecue booths during lunch Saturday, while other vendors were set up offering various items at VF Factory Outlet Mall.

Several antique and unusual cars were shown at a “Cruise-In,” while live music lifted the mood.

The Lions Club BBQ Blast-Off judging capped the festivities Saturday. Three teams judged barbecue chicken, ribs and pulled pork. There was also a community judging of pulled pork entries and sauces.

After the judging, Robert Patterson was named Grand Champion. The barbecue guru also won first for chicken and ribs, taking an overall purse of $550.

Jim Herrenbruck won Reserve Grand Champion and placed first in pulled pork, second for chicken and fifth for ribs, raking in $325.

Mike Agee won $125 with his second-place ribs and chicken. Charles Brown finished third for chicken and pulled pork, fetching $100.

Lori Piper also pulled in a cool $100 prize with her top finish in the Community Choice judging. Tim Rigdon won a $50 prize for third in the ribs category.

Teen Challenge women were onsite with a booth, car wash and supporting the Community Choice judging.
