Stolen Vehicle Discovered on Farm

AUTO THEFT 300HOPKINSVILLE, KY (2/17/12) – A vehicle that was reported stolen earlier this month has been recovered. According to the Christian County Sheriff’s report, deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of Elmo Road. The call was in reference to an abandoned vehicle that was left on the property.

Upon arrival, the deputy talked with Donald Shaw who leases acres on that farm. He reported to authorities that while making his rounds on the property he found the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado parked in a barn. Authorities report that the back window was broken out and the steering column was damaged. No other damage was apparent to the reporting deputy.

The key was found in the ignition but the vehicle’s engine would not start. A towing company was called to remove the truck. S&S Towing arrived and took custody of the vehicle a short time later.

The vehicle had been reported stolen to Oak Grove Police on February 2 and was entered into the system. The truck is owned by Erik Backlund of Oak Grove. Contact was eventually made with Backlund and he was advised of what to do in order to retrieve his vehicle.
