HOPKINSVILLE, KY (1/31/12) – One suspect is now in custody following a robbery and manhunt that lasted several hours Monday afternoon and evening. According to the Hopkinsville Police report, 23-year-old Joseph Brown of Hopkinsville was arrested around 5:15 p.m. Monday and charged with 1st degree robbery (complicity).
The incident began just before 5 p.m. Monday when three black males with bandanas over their faces entered A.C. Automotive at 1404 East Ninth Street in Hopkinsville. The report says the men pointed guns at two victims inside the business and proceeded to assault and rob them. Several personal items including cellphones were taken from the victims.
The three suspects reportedly fled the business and left in a car allegedly driven by Brown. The car eventually ended up on I-24 where it was identified by Oak Grove Police who attempted to stop the vehicle. Oak Grove police called out that shots were fired although no reports of injury were made.
Brown was taken into custody and later identified by one of the victims as the one who drove the car with the other three suspects. Brown is currently housed in the Christian County Jail. Authorities are continuing to investigate the identities and whereabouts of the other three suspects who fled the scene.
Hopkinsville Police were joined by the Oak Grove Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Department and the Clarksville Police Department. Nashville Metro Police supplied a helicopter that assisted in the search for the suspects.
