HOPKINSVILLE, KY (2/3/12) – The annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast is set for Saturday, February 4 in downtown Hopkinsville. The event will be held at the War Memorial Building from 6 a.m. until noon.
According to club Vice President Steve Barrios, pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee will be available during the morning. The all-you-can-eat breakfast is $6 with tickets available at the door. Carry-outs are also available during the event.
Barrios says this is just one of the many events that the Kiwanis Club sponsors throughout the year. Other key programs include Warm the Children which provides clothing during the holiday for families who need some help for their children. The Gourmet Nut and Ornaments program is always a local favorite each year. Following the pancake breakfast, the next event will be the annual Soap Box Derby which Barrios says is the club’s biggest event of the year.
The Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club is more than 100 members strong and most of those members will be on hand to staff Saturday’s breakfast. Barrios encourages the community to come out and enjoy a great breakfast while helping the younger generation, “It’s all about the kids, it’s all about our community, whether it’s high school, whether we’re doing it for the elementary schools…it’s to help children. That’s what this program is all about.”
