Myron Dossett Files for Re-Election for State Representative

myron dossettFRANKFORT, KY (1/24/12) – State Representative Myron Dossett (R-Pembroke) has officially filed for re-election in House District 9.

“It’s been an honor to serve the people of western Kentucky in the State House of Representatives,” said Dossett. “Government must learn to live within its means and I look forward to continuing to fight for efficient and effective government that works for people.”

Representative Dossett is a three term member of the General Assembly, who currently holds the office previously held by the late James Bruce (D-Hopkinsville), the longest serving member of the General Assembly in Kentucky’s history.

Representative Dossett stated that he had waited to file for re-election until after the redistricting process was complete. Previously, the district only included parts of Christian. Now the district includes parts of Christian and Hopkins counties.

“For the new citizens added to the 9th District from Hopkins County, I look forward to meeting you. I pledge to become a part of your community and if I’m fortunate enough to represent you after next November, I will work just as hard for you and Hopkins County as I do for the citizens of Christian County,” said Dossett.

Dossett is a small business owner in Christian County. He served as a member of the Christian County Fiscal Court from 2002 to 2006. In 2002, he was the first Republican elected to county office in more than twenty years.

In an overwhelming Democrat registered district, Dossett has been successful at building support from both political parties.

“I give special thanks to my Mom and Dad. They were well respected in the community and I think people could see that they had passed their values and beliefs on to me. Regardless of party, I work hard to represent the best interests of all voters,” said Dossett.

As a state representative, Dossett has worked to find ways to create and retain jobs in western Kentucky. He has a record of standing up against tax increases and wasteful government spending. Dossett is a strong advocate for Kentucky coal, pro-life issues, improving education and strengthening Kentucky’s agriculture industry.

“We as elected officials must do all we can to offer encouragement and opportunities to the citizens of Kentucky. We must work to get our jobs back from overseas, create new jobs and offer our children and grandchildren a chance at success. I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility and oppose tax increases and regulations that are strangling our citizens, our farmers and our businesses,” added Dossett.
