Edwin Allen Poe, 95, of Nassau Circle

 

HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Edwin Allen Poe, 95, of Nassau Circle passed away at 6:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at Christian Health Center of natural causes.

A native of Hopkinsville, KY he was born November 19, 1916 the son of the late Walter L. Poe and Willie Bell Jones Poe. He was the co-owner of City Meat Market and then worked at Grimes Butcher Shop. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Christian County Bass Association. He was a WWII United States Navy Veteran. He formerly volunteered as a Red Coat at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Catherine Cobb Poe (1996).

Survivors include his wife: Lucille Walker Poe; a son: Wallace Edwin Poe (Ann Crouch) of Hopkinsville, KY; his stepsons: Steve Walker (Tammy) of Madisonville, KY, Todd Walker (Kelly) of Hopkinsville, KY, and Chad Walker (Amanda) of Cadiz, KY; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; and two great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Green Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Greg Giltner officiating. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Care Communities or Hillcrest Baptist Church.
