Women’s Tennis Set to Host Belmont and Arkansas State at Kenlake

racers tennis2MURRAY, KY (2/16/12) - The Murray State women’s tennis team will host two matches this weekend at the Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Ky. The Racers will first battle with Belmont, Friday, Feb. 17 and MSU will then host Arkansas State, Sunday, Feb. 19, with both matches set to start at noon.
 
The Bruins come into this Friday’s action with a 3-3 mark after earning wins in their last three matches. Belmont’s last outing was Feb. 11, when they took a 6-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan. The Racers and the Bruins have met on 10 previous occasions, with MSU holding a 9-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Racers have won the last two meetings, including a 4-3 win Feb. 20, 2011 in Nashville and a 7-0 win Feb. 18, 2010 at Kenlake.
 
The Redwolves are 2-2 overall and will play at Evansville, Friday, Feb. 17 before coming to face MSU. ASU has already faced two teams from the Ohio Valley Conference this season, earning a 6-1 win over UT Martin and a 5-1 win over Southeast Missouri in their last contest (Feb. 11). The Redwolves currently have a 12-10 lead in the all-time series after winning the last nine matches. The last time the two teams battled was March 2, 2011, with ASU earning a 7-0 win in Jonesboro, Ark. The last home meeting resulted in a 5-4 Redwolves win, March 26, 1993.
