MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (2/19/12)-Looking for a Broadway style musical right here in Muhlenberg? Look no further than the local production of “Footloose”. With around 40 cast members working on it for up to seven days a week since, some have said that it will be a great opening to the new Felix Martin Hall.
According to some of the cast members, there are about 30 actors to portray characters such as small town girl Ariel Moore, Ren McCormack, and many more. The entire cast consists of children in sixth grade up to students in their senior year. The entire play is being choreographed by Melanie Boggess.
Some of the cast has commented that the practicing schedule has been both stressful at times and very fun at others.
Some cast members also said that the play wouldn’t have nearly as much public knowledge if it weren’t for the cast telling their fellow students at school and the support of the Morning Show at Muhlenberg County High School. According to certain members of the cast, some of the biggest parts of the performance will be the dancing, the costumes, and the set.
The group is going from an average of about 300 seat limits to the new 800 seat limit in the Felix Martin Hall. They have said that they hope that they will be able to sell out all of their shows, and “make people stand up to watch the show” if possible.
The showing will take place on March the 23rd, 24th and 25th, at the Felix Martin Hall. The cast and crew promise to make quite a show with the trademark dance moves of the movie, and in the words of Ariel Peterson, “it’s going to be the best thing you’ve ever seen.”
