UPDATE: POWDERLY, Ky. (8/4/17) — Three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision at approximately 4:13 p.m. yesterday on Kentucky 189 Bypass in Powderly.

Kentucky State Trooper Justin Cornett responded to the accident that happened at the intersection of Kentucky 189 and Kentucky 1380.

KSP said Richard Boggess, 49 of Central City was driving a loaded 2007 International semi tractor trailer headed south on Kentucky 189. When Boggess reached 189's intersection with Kentucky 1380, he was unable to stop and went through the red light.

Police said Boggess sounded his air horn attempting to alert other motorists and then collided with a 2005 Ford van driven by Jessica Luttrell, 22 of Central City. Luttrell's van was knocked off the road and came to rest in the grass between Kentucky 189 and Kentucky 1380. Luttrell was removed from the vehicle through the rear passenger side door with the assistance of Greenville Fire Department and Muhlenberg EMS.

After the collision with Luttrell's vehicle, Boggess's truck continued across the median of Kentucky 189 and headed south in the northbound lanes through traffic. The semi then collided with a 2009 Ford Mustang driven by Nicholas Mayes, 21 of Greenville. Mayes's vehicle was slowing to a stop when it was struck causing it to spin around and came to rest upright across both northbound lanes of Kentucky 189.

Luttrell, Mayes and Boggess were transported to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital by Muhlenberg EMS. Everyone was wearing seatbelts, said police.

Cornett was also assisted on the scene by KSP Commercial vehicle Enforcement, Greenville Police Department, Gunn's Towing and Harvey's Family Towing.
