Phillips covingtonCENTRAL CITY, Ky. (10/12/17) — Central City Police recently charged a wanted man and his traveling companion with receiving a stolen vehicle after police were summoned to Walmart in regard to a fight.

Sgt. Jason Lindsey responded at 10:18 p.m. Oct. 2 to Walmart Supercenter parking lot along with Officer Jeremy Mahan and CCPD Assistant Chief Jimmy Beadnell. Officers made contact with the man and woman reported to have been fighting in a 2001 Honda Accord. Police determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Covington.

CCPD charged Eric Phillips, 41 of Louisville and Brittany VanWinkle, age unknown of Brandenburg with receiving stolen property more than $10,000. VanWinkle was also charged with giving a false name to a police officer.

Police say Phillips and VanWinkle were in possession of items believed to be stolen in the Covington area and Phillips was found to be wanted in connection with several burglary/theft cases in the Covington area.

Both were taken to Muhlenberg County Detention Center. However, neither are listed as an inmate today. Phillips is now in the Kenton County Detention Center, where he was booked into the system Oct. 11, and is being held on a $2,500 cash bond.
