LEXINGTON, Ky. (5/24/13)—The 2013-14 Broadway Live show lineup was announced Thursday night during the annual gala season preview event at the Lexington Opera House. The event showcased local talent who performed excerpts from top national touring productions, all booked for the coming season. The 2013-14 five-show season features four Broadway musicals and a play from a renowned regional theatre.
"It’s an EXTRA! EXTRA! special season of Broadway Live,” said Opera House Program Director Luanne Franklin. “This season features five titles that are hot off Broadway – including multiple Tony Award Winners and one current nomination for Best New Musical.”
As an extra incentive, season tickets are more affordable than ever before starting at $168 for the five show package. Season ticket holders will receive 20% - 50% off ticket prices. Lowest ticket prices are locked in for season ticket holders, as costs increase when single Broadway Live tickets go on sale August 29th.
“There has never been a more affordable time to become a season ticket holder and enjoy the benefits that come with it,” Franklin explained. “Season ticket holders get the best seat at the best prices, enjoy multiple payment options, the lowest handling fees and the security of ticket insurance in case tickets are lost, misplaced or forgotten; and the ease and flexibility of switching show performances in the event of a schedule change. Best of all is the great personal service that has become an integral part of the Broadway Live experience.”
Season ticket holders have the chance to buy additional tickets at a 10% discount and in advance of the general public on sale date of August 29th. Also, season ticket holders have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to Titanic the Artifact Exhibition, opening October 5 at the Lexington Center Museum and Gallery. And finally, a $5 discount is offered on to season ticket holders for two Variety Live presentations: Mannheim Steamroller and The 75th Anniversary Benny Goodman Tribute. Tickets to these presentations will be available for presale only to subscribers at the same time as Broadway Live season tickets are purchased.
The Broadway Live series will present five performances of each title and all shows are scheduled to take place over the weekends, including three evenings and two matinees. Sunday performances are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. A special “value price” for the 6 p.m. Sunday evening performance will be offered again this year. Season Tickets for the 2013-14 Broadway Live season can be ordered on May 24, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Lexington Center Ticket Office.
Lexington Center CEO and President Bill Owen said, "The Lexington Opera House, built in 1886, has been in service for 126 years and continues to serve our community. The Opera House Fund and the Lexington business community are to be commended for providing the necessary sponsorship dollars so that we may continue to offer fine facilities for intimate live stage performances presented by both national touring companies and the local performing arts community alike.”
