MADISONVILLE, KY. (3/11/14) — The Madisonville Fire Department released the results of its investigation Tuesday, March 11 regarding the cause of the fire that destroyed the China Jade restaurant early Saturday, March 8.
According to MFD Chief Steve Stolz, the investigation and evaluation by MPD, the state Fire Marshall's Office and an investigator with the owner's insurance company have determined that the fire appeared to have originated in the attic area and to be electrical in nature. There were no indicators that would lead investigators to believe the fire was intentionally started, the report said.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/8/14) — The Madisonville Fire Department was summoned to a fire that destroyed a well-known restaurant early Saturday morning in Madisonville.
MFD got the call at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8 that the China Jade Restaurant at 3 Chelsa Drive, Madisonville, was on fire. When units arrived at 4:35 a.m., Chief Steve Stolz said a small fire was visible through the roof of the structure.
When firefighters made their way into the interior, debris made it difficult for them to make headway and they discovered a full-blown attic fire. Units then began a defensive attack with both ladder trucks and four engines on the scene.
Stolz said when the attic was found to be in total flames, "it was pretty much a total loss from there."
