hcc youth programs 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (5/25/13) – Hopkinsville Community College (HCC) will offer eight options of summer youth camps during June and July. HCC will offer five weeks of “Kids in College Can Soar,” the college’s longest-running youth camp, one week each of “Club Invention” and one week of the newest camp, “Career Craze.”

Kids In College Can Soar (KICCS)
KICCS (pronounced “kicks”) is a week-long educational summer camp created to inspire a love of learning and help students discover opportunities provided by a college education. Since its launch in 1991 more than 5,200 students have participated in KICCS where they are treated like real college students complete with freshman orientation, personalized class schedules and graduation. Every class features engaging, hands-on activities. KICCS offers 18 class choices and five weeks of programming throughout the summer. Students may register for any number of weeks. KICCS meets from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Age Range: students who will be in grades 1-6 in the fall Hopkinsville Community College Campus: June 10-14, June 17-21, July 8-12, July 15-19 Trigg County Middle School in Cadiz: June 24-28
Fee: $79 per week
 
Career Craze
New in 2013, HCC will offer two Career Craze camps to give students going into grades seven through nine the opportunity to explore technical careers during four activity-packed afternoons led by college faculty. Students may participate in an Agriculture Career Craze or a Manufacturing Career Craze. Career Craze meets from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, June 17-20. Enrollment is limited.
Age Range: students who will be in grades 7-9 in the fall Hopkinsville Community College Campus: June 17-20
Fee: Free of charge
 
Club Invention
Club Invention is an exciting summer where students are immersed in activity-oriented adventures to enhance their creative problem-solving skills. Club Invention supplements and reinforces the traditional school day by providing a safe, creative outlet for extended learning. This year's camp features two all new modules -- "Bolder Builders" and "Physics in Motion." Club Invention is provided by HCC in cooperation with the Christian County Public Schools. Club Invention meets from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, July 22-25.
Age Range: students who will be in grades 1-6 in the fall Hopkinsville Community College Campus: July 22-25
Fee: $119
