MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/24/13) – Today, downtown Madisonville’s First United Bank held its annual Cooking for the Cure to help raise funds for Relay for Life.

Karen Glenn, President CEO of Frist United Bank stated, “We got a great turn out, people are still coming in, and having lunch with us. We are looking forward to Wrestling for Relay that will start later this afternoon. We typically, on our cookouts, raise more than $2000 but we expect this year, especially, with the wrestling aspect to raise even more. “

For the last ten years, First United Bank has been hosting this cooking event. The delicious menu this year consisted of chicken and burgers  with a side of chips, a drink and a desert for $5.00.

At 1:00pm, various members of the community  participated in Sumo Wrestling to help raise funds for Relay for Life. Donations were made to the favorite wrestlers. The top eight with the most donations wrestled.

Karen Glenn would like the community to know, “Here at the bank, we support the community  completely and this is just another way we try and give back.  Relay for Life, and obviously cancer has touched all of us in some form or fashion and is very near and dear to our hearts and my heart personally. And we just look forward to having a lot of fun with it while we raise money. And this is another way we are trying to do that.”
